Faithful Stewardship Asks the Hard Questions

The little church outside Waco had never given much thought to insurance. They were tucked safely outside of town, proud of how well they maintained their property, and a bit skeptical of insurance companies anyway. Whenever repairs were needed, members rolled up their sleeves, pitched in, and handled it themselves.

But one quiet Sunday morning changed everything for their congregation.

When the pastor arrived early to open the building, he immediately noticed something was wrong. The front door had been forced open and the sound system was gone, office drawers were emptied, and donation records had vanished. The church had been robbed.

At first, the leadership team tried to stay calm. They could replace the stolen equipment and repair the damage. They knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it was doable. Then the real fallout hit. Those missing donation records meant sensitive member information was exposed. Without insurance, the church was suddenly responsible for contacting donors, managing credit alerts, and dealing with reputational damage and all on their own.

That’s when the realization set in: faith and hard work weren’t enough to protect what God had entrusted to them. They needed to start asking the hard questions.

In this week’s podcast episodes, we tackle those uncomfortable but essential topics. Questions that most pastors and church leaders don’t want to ask, but really should.
