Faithful Stewardship Means Thinking Ahead

Pastor Mark’s church in Lubbock was buzzing with excitement. Their annual youth weekend was coming up. It was the highlight of the year that brought energy, laughter, and a renewed sense of faith for their teens.

In the past, families from the church had opened their homes for the overnight portion of the event. But this year, the team decided to do something different, a full weekend retreat at a nearby camp. The students were thrilled, and the leaders were eager to make it an unforgettable experience.

However, as Pastor Mark and the planning team worked through the details, one unexpected question stopped them in their tracks. The camp coordinator asked, “Can you provide proof of special event insurance?”

That simple request led to a bigger realization: no one on the team was certain whether their church’s regular insurance policy actually covered an overnight youth event at an off-site location. It was a question they’d never had to ask before but one that every Texas church planning retreats, lock-ins, or off-site activities should be asking now.

That moment became a turning point for Pastor Mark’s team. It reminded them that faithful stewardship isn’t just about creating ministry opportunities, it’s about thinking ahead to manage risks, protect people, and keep the mission moving forward when the unexpected happens.

This week’s podcast episodes focus on that exact idea which is the power of preparation. From building a violent response plan and ensuring proper auto coverage to protecting your daycare ministry and leadership team, each conversation unpacks how foresight and stewardship go hand-in-hand.
