When Sylvia agreed to serve on the finance committee at her Waco church, she didn’t expect insurance to become one of the most challenging parts of the job. She had always trusted that the church was covered. However, once she opened the policy and started asking basic questions, she realized how much she didn’t know and how much was riding on getting it right. What coverage actually mattered for a church like theirs? Why did the cost keep climbing? And how could they be sure the insurance company standing behind the policy would still be there when it mattered most?

Sylvia quickly learned that these weren’t rookie questions and that they weren’t the only questions that she should be asking. Church leaders across Texas are asking the same things. As property costs rise, policies get more complicated, and long-standing assumptions about insurance no longer hold up, Texas churches have realized that they need a deeper understanding of insurance terms.

This week’s episodes dig into the answers churches need right now why property insurance costs aren’t coming down, what questions must be answered before buying or renewing coverage, how admitted and non-admitted carriers really differ, and what churches need to understand about claim settlement options like actual cash value versus replacement cost. These conversations are about more than insurance. They’re about leadership, stewardship, and making informed decisions that protect the ministry entrusted to you.
