Faithful Stewardship Understands New Changes To Church Insurance

Steve is exactly the kind of guy you want serving as a deacon. As a no-nonsense rancher from Amarillo, he’s managed his church’s property committee for years. He’s done so with the same precision he has used for his cattle operation for over twenty years. When a pipe bursts at the church or a fence fails, Steve has the solution. The congregation trusts him to keep their church’s property maintained. He takes that responsibility seriously.

That trust is why Steve felt a sense of calm last summer even though a storm pummeled the church with hail and wind. After the storm passed, the damage to the church was obvious. The shingles were scattered across the parking lot and siding was flapping in the breeze.

Steve didn’t panic. He called Bill who is a faithful church member that runs a reputable commercial construction business in town. Bill secured a crew to show up at the church the following Monday morning. Steve thought that he had solved the problem. But the next morning, he found out that the church’s insurance policy required the church to use their contractor instead. Unknowingly, the church bought a policy with a managed repair program.

These are the kind of changes to Texas church insurance that church leaders need to look out for. In this week’s podcast episodes, we are talking about church insurance changes in 2026 in addition to understanding which liability policies are important for Texas churches.
